No good work, or word, or thought,
Bring I to gain Thy grace ; Pardon I accept unbought,
Thy proffer I embrace ; Coming, as at first I came, To take, and not bestow on Thee ; Friend of sinners ! spotless Lamb!
Thy Blood was shed for me.
Saviour ! from Thy wounded side
I never will depart; Here will I my spirit hide
When I am pure in heart: Till my place above I claim, This only shall be all my plea,

CXLVII.
Just as I am, without one plea But that Thy Blood was shed for me, And that Thou bidd'st me come to Thee, O Lamb of God, I come !
Just as I am, and waiting not To rid my soul of one dark blot, To Thee, whose Blood can cleanse each spot, O Lamb of God, I come !
Just as I am, though toss'd about With many a conflict, many a doubt, Fightings and fears within, without, O Lamb of God, I come ! |
